The Vice-Chancellor for Research and Technology
- Determines research priorities and makes effective decisions concerning research projects
- Evaluates the research activities carried out at LUMS
- Establishes and develops academic relationships between LUMS and Iranian as well as international universities to collaborate on research projects and scientific enterprises
- Reassesses and amends the strategic research document of LUMS
- Oversees the management of research affairs at the research centers affiliated with LUMS
- Organizes scientific conferences and workshops
- Carries out research contracts signed between LUMS and other universities and institutes
- Facilitates the execution of short-term research projects for certain institutes
- Oversees the entire research affairs of the University, libraries, and databases, and the Office of Industry Relations
- Provides the faculty members with the chance of the utilization of both overseas and domestic sabbatical leaves based on the regulations
- Maps out the research agenda of the University, sets the goals, and determines the research priorities through both short-term and long-term projects ad plans presented to the University Research Council
- Facilitates the publication of the books authored and translated by faculty members
- Oversees the administration of research affairs of the journals affiliated with LUMS
- Supervises the activities of the research councils of the schools and other affiliated centers
- Directs and coordinates the activities of the Student Research Council
- Presents the financial statement of the Vice-Chancellery for Research to the Board of Directors in order to determine the annual budget
- Oversees the administration of the clinical development centers affiliated with LUMS
